Challenge Accepted.

Had to generate an ad for a brand new business, which is fairly standard, except the publication is only in black and cyan. They asked for something that was fresh and poppy, but still classy. I feel like it was a small success and came out well, so here it is for sharing and fun.

Super Massive Update Part 2!

Massive Super Update of Many Things!

Well it has been quite some time since I last posted any sort of work. Mostly due to changing jobs, living location, and many other factors. I have not been idle though, I have been freelancing my face off and here are a few of the results.

Don't Mess With Ghost-Train.

Took a small night adventure around the new neighborhood with Wendy the other night. I'm pleased to say it yielded some decent results. One observation though; don't mess with Ghost-Train.

Getting Sketchy In Haverhill

Okay, I just moved to Haverhill, and I only have one thing to say about it: nice place, but don't wander too far from any main roads if you're on foot. Things can get weird and creepy in a hurry. That's not to say that everything is awful, but there are a lot of leftover industrial areas that have been abandoned to just rot out of sight and out of mind. It makes for good subject matter though.

Paper Mache of the Devil

Some multi colored led glowsticks and a laser later, you get a decent test in contrast and color.

The Geist Has Arrived

This is basically me fussing with the camera to get accustomed to the stops and exposure and iso settings, either way this came out looking neat.

So Far, Pretty Awesome.

I am definitely enjoying the Pentax. It's fairly versatile, and has an insane iso range. Lots of little features making adjusting for different environments easy as well. The image stabilization is a plus too, but cuts out during longer exposures, which is to be expected anyway. The only gripe I have is the time it takes to process the image after a long bulb exposure, but I am also shooting as large as I can without going raw. Look below for a few examples of my first day out shooting with it. The night shots are especially nice, with some surprisingly rich color showing up in the longer exposures due to the sky saturating for almost a whole minute on f4.5 and 400iso.

Balancing Act

Using a strobe Wendy lit herself as she walked the track, which is why you can only see her legs. Makes for a creepy sort of "Silent Hill" effect.

Tracking

Yet another long exposure at night, just a still shot of the train tracks. Its odd how everything gets lighted during a long exposure. The sky goes purplish, the trees actually look green, but the light itself doesnt really look like its coming from any one place, maybe because there really isn't a dedicated light source.

Sky Rushing By

Another long night exposure, making for a weird cell shaded effect with the sky moving and the trees staying still.

I Sense Seagulls

This seagull kept standing up and sitting down, effectively blocking the sensor and making the light go on and off every few seconds.

Don't Touch The Tracks

Exposing at night for a good 40 seconds can get you some cool results, especially when you have friends with led lights handy. The sky exposed a weird orange color, most likely from the city lights just past the tracks.

That Won't Save You

A close up of the most horrific attempt at a life saving device I have ever seen.
